In 1974, a Dominican craftsman called Miguel Méndez found sea-blue pebbles on a beach. The villagers told him the ocean had made them. Méndez didn't believe it. He followed the river upstream, into the hills, and found the place the pebbles were really coming from.

He named the stone after his daughter, Larissa, and the Spanish word for sea, mar. Larimar. So from its very first day, this stone was a gift from a parent to a child. It has never really stopped being one.

Look closely and you'll see why the villagers thought the sea made it: light on a shallow, sandy seabed, frozen in stone. No two pieces share the same pattern.
